What do the numbers mean?
- Win rate
- Share of games won. 60% means 6 wins out of 10.
- Goals per game
- Average goals the player scores per game.
- Goals against per game
- Average goals allowed per game. Lower means better defense.
- Shutout wins
- Wins where the opponent didn't score.
- Shots/GP
- Average shots on goal per game.
- Shooting %
- How many of 100 shots become goals. 15% means 3 goals from 20 shots.
- Shots saved
- How many of 100 opponent shots were stopped — goalie and defense. 90% means 3 goals allowed on 30 shots.
- Faceoffs
- Share of faceoffs won — the puck goes to his team after the drop.
- Hits per game
- Average hits per game.
- Power play
- When the opponent has a penalty and you have an extra skater: how often you score. 30% means 3 goals from 10 power plays.
- Penalty kill
- When your player is in the box: how often you don't concede. 80% means 2 goals allowed on 10 penalty kills.
- Attack time (possession)
- Share of the game the puck was with your team in attack.
So players with just a couple of games don't top the lists, percentages also need volume: at least 150 shots or faceoffs and 15 power plays or penalty kills all-time (60% of that for a month, 30% for a week).
